The education system is broken (What to do now)

The schooling system has failed us.

Every day that is true for more and more people. Every day more students finish their careers just to enter the “rat race”, and I know some don’t like that term, but it is true. Most of the time, once you have finished studying, the next step is to find a job, which most of the time has nothing to do with what you are passionate about, sometimes it isn’t even something you like.

And people will say –Oh, well. That’s just how it is, you are supposed to start from the bottom– and climb the corporate ladder so that 30 years later you have finally reached the top, and you can finally retire, rest, and do whatever you want to.

You have probably heard this a thousand times, but I need you to take it seriously this time. Is that really what you want?

–But what other option do I have?–

For decades business was reserved for just a few people. You needed knowledge, contacts, and money to be able to even think of starting one.

Then, the internet arrived, and with it, online businesses.

I’m not saying that it isn't hard and that it won’t take you some time, what I’m saying is that it is a possibility. It is now possible for anyone who has two things: an electronic device and internet access. Which means it is possible for you since you are reading this.

Now, there are some common misconceptions as to what it takes to build one. That you need a lot of money, that you need a lot of time, or that you don’t have the necessary skills. All of which are false.

And as I said before it is not going to be the easiest thing to do, but once you start looking at the things you can achieve there is absolutely no reason not to try.

  • Control your income

  • Building something around the things you are passionate about

  • Freedom of time and place

  • Being able to scale it as much or as little as you want

  • Basically freedom, true freedom

These are just some of the benefits of having your everyday work being your business. There is just one but. All of them are reserved for those who are willing to fight through the uncertainty of this life path.

As I said, it is not easy. You need to learn a lot of things and you will fail, a lot of times. Which people don’t like, they like the certainty of a check with their name coming every month to their front step. They like being in their comfort zone. So no, business is not for everyone, it is reserved for those who are willing to step out of their comfort zone, it is reserved for those who are willing to try again after countless failures.

But when you put that against doing something I hate for the next 30 years just thinking about the day I’ll finally be able to retire, well… I know what I’m choosing.

What to do now?

Now, you start educating yourself. You start looking for information on online business, you start building the skills necessary to do so. You start developing your interests. Slowly you begin to submerge in the world of online businesses, figure out how they work, and what you need to do to start one.

My advice: do this for a month, follow creators that are talking about it, read books, watch videos, look for as much information as you can in that month to get a good understanding of it.

And once you’ve done this, start building something.

What exactly?

It depends on you, but after a month of being submerged in that space, you’ll probably have a very good idea of what the options are and what feels right for you.

The important part here is to start doing something, I don’t care whether you feel ready or not. Just do something, you’ll probably won’t get it right the first time, but that’s why it is so important to start. So you can start learning and experiencing for yourself what works and what doesn’t.

So that, eventually, you get it right.
